SPY VWAP Framework — Binary vs Non-Binary Trades
Reference Chart
Circled regions are Binary Trades.
Non-circled exhaustion/reversal regions are Non-Binary VWAP Reversal Trades.
Binary Trades
Binary trades are objective YES/NO setups. They are cleaner, easier to automate, and should normally use
one batch only.
Type 1 — VWAP Confluence Acceptance
- Used when price has not expanded yet.
- VWAP confluence must align with another major level.
- $5 level is the strongest confluence.
- PMH/PML and PDH/PDL are secondary confluence levels.
- Price must cross, hold, and accept the confluence level.
- Entry after reclaim, hold, or structure confirmation.
Type 2 — VWAP Continuation
- Used after trend expansion has already started.
- Strong impulse away from VWAP.
- First pullback only.
- Controlled/shallow pullback into VWAP or VWAP confluence.
- VWAP acts as support/resistance.
- Entry after acceptance and continuation trigger.
Binary Trade Rules
- One batch entry only.
- No averaging in.
- Fast invalidation if structure fails.
- Best candidate for automation.
Non-Binary VWAP Reversal Trade
This is the exhaustion/mean-reversion setup. It is not a simple YES/NO trade. It requires trend maturity,
exhaustion, and confirmation before entry.
Mandatory Precondition
- SPY must make a fast $5+ move before noon.
- This move must be an aggressive expansion, not a slow grind.
- If price slowly grinds away from VWAP, the reversal setup is invalid.
- The fast move creates trapped momentum, exhaustion, and unwind pressure back toward VWAP.
Type 3 — VWAP Exhaustion Reversal
- Fast $5+ expansion before noon.
- Multiple expansion legs.
- Each leg pauses with compression.
- Each new leg gets smaller near major resistance/support.
- Compression becomes longer/choppier.
- Failed continuation appears.
- VWAP flips into the magnet target.
Entry Logic
- Do not enter on the first impulse.
- Wait for exhaustion near major level.
- Wait for failed continuation.
- Wait for price to cross VWAP when trading back to VWAP.
- Wait for second consolidation.
- Second consolidation should be minimum 10 bars.
- Enter after rejection, failed reclaim, or structure breakdown.
Scaling Rules
- Starter position allowed after first confirmed rejection.
- Second scale only after second 10-bar consolidation confirms failure.
- Never average into trend acceleration.
- Maximum two batches recommended.
